Tree Surgeon Shenfield

Your Professional Tree Surgeon in Shenfield

At Crestwood we always recommend choosing a properly qualified tree surgeon if you need work done on a tree or hedge. There are a lot of people who will offer to carry out this line of work, but because of the nature of trees and the tools needed to work on them, arboriculture carries a risk and should only be done by skilled technicians, where safety is a priority.

It’s also important to choose a professional who has the experience necessary to carry out work on your trees or hedges, otherwise your tree, hedge or even your property could be damaged. A tree, that has possibly taken decades to grow, can be seriously harmed and damaged in the wrong hands. And if you have other trees nearby you won’t want them damaged in the process either.

The team at Crestwood Arboricultural Ltd are fully insured, professional arboricultural technicians. We provide a range of services to domestic and commercial customers in Shenfield and the surrounding area.

Why Looking After Your Trees is Important

Trees hold both aesthetic and financial value, both for the owner and the community in which they grow.

They make an area feel less stressful, provide privacy and shade and help reduce noise. Tree canopies filter dust and absorb pollutants from the air. A single tree can remove up to 1.7 kilos of pollutant every year.

To maintain your tree, without causing it harm, it’s crucial that any advice you get is correct and appropriate for the tree in question. Because trees are not all the same, and it’s not just a matter of cutting back a few leaves if you need a hedge trimmed. Be sure to check the tree surgeon has the proper qualifications and experience to carry out the work you need.

Do I need permission to cut or remove a tree? +

If the tree is on your land, you would normally only need permission if your tree is subject to a tree preservation order (TPO) or is protected as part of Conservation Area rules.

If your tree is subject to preservation order and you think it has become an issue, you can apply to the local authority for permission to carry out any work. There are penalties for not complying with any laws that are in place on a tree. Get in touch with us and we can advise you on a specification and deal with the application process for you.

How do I know if there is a problem with my tree? +

Trees display symptoms of stress, be it of disease, pests, climate or water implications in different ways, sometimes years after the problem arises.

Our staff are experienced and knowledgeable in observing and diagnosing problems that a tree may be displaying.

We can advise you on a course of action too. You can be safe in the knowledge that you’re are dealing with expert, professional staff.

Can I cut back my neighbour’s tree? +

A tree is owned by the person who owns the property in which it grows. If a neighbour’s tree grows over your boundary you are entitled to cut it back to your boundary line. However, if there is a tree preservation order in place you should seek advice first from a tree specialist first.

In any case, if you’re going to thin a neighbour’s tree it’s worth speaking to them first. Just cutting back the branches may cause lasting damage. After the tree has been cut back, the tree owner has the right to ask for any branches or fruit you’ve cut from the tree (although you have no right to ask them to come and clean up fallen leaves).

If a tree is causing damage, to gutters for example, or the roots are causing subsidence your neighbour may also be responsible for the costs.

How much do tree surgeons cost? +

All trees and hedges are different and the cost depends on the type of work required and other factors like safe access to the tree. But our tree surgeons offer a free, no obligation quote. Our services are fairly priced and competitive too. Contact us today to talk about your requirements.

Are you qualified and insured? +
